This one is from Into The Whirled
It's called: Captain Tight Pants from the Firefly collection.

422 yards of lace weight wool and something else which I forgot to keep records on.

By the way, if you haven't seen this show and the following movie, Serenity, do. The show is so much better than the plying job I did on this yarn.

A study in thick

This was an attempt to spin thicker yarn. If I'm just enjoying myself spinning I almost always spin an automatic fingering weight. I don't do much spinning for an actual knitting/crocheting/weaving project, I just spin because I enjoy it so much.

This yarn, however, I have plans for. I would like to knit them into mittens. I've never knitted mittens before but all the patterns I see call for thicker than fingering so I spun this beautiful braid up into two sport weight skeins.

Fiber Fancy's Beatles Club
Revolution in merino/mohair
Sport weight 178 yards total.

I think these would make beautiful mittens but will 178 yards be enough?

Once again it's Fiber Fancy fiber. Get used to it I have a lot of her stuff.

This is from her 80's music club Jan 2013, Til Tuesday - Voices Cary.
It's a yummy merino/SW merino/ Tussah silk combo.

214 yards DK weight, N plied.

Originally I was going to ply it with this:
Cozy Couch by Fiber Fancy.
Merino/silk 214 yards DK weight

I spun the singles up

And plied a small sample

But decided I liked them better separately.

If I were rich I'd order an entire sweaters worth of both. Of course then I'd have to really learn to knit so I guess it's better that I'm not rich.

Playing catchup

Ok, I pulled out the old swift and ball winder and re-skiened/measured/sized/and photographed (well my daughter did that part) all the yarn I've spun so far this year. I also added up all the yardage and updated my sidebar ticker. That's over 4 1/2 miles! I wonder how many it would have been if I had counted in the singles yardage before all that N-plying?

I'll post it a little at a time so I don't drive myself nuts.

First up:
Tropical Rainbow, merino/tencel, from Fiber Fancy

weight: fingering
length: 170yrds

This is one of those yarns you wish you had more of.

The non spinning part of being a spinner

Last night I spent time re-skeining, measuring, and labeling 5 skeins of handspun, without the use of a ball winder and swift I might add. I still have 3 grocery bags full of skeins that I need to do this with before I can store them.

Not to mention the picture taking and logging in Ravelry.

I'm not the most diligent at this part of being a spinner.
